The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) provides funding to the Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments for outreach in first time homebuyer products, housing rehabilitation, and involvement with housing activities in the District.
Recently, SWNMCOG assisted with a grant application to HUD on behalf of the Town of Silver City. The Town was awarded $1 million to begin an affordable housing project called Vistas de Plata. SWNMCOG and the Town of Silver City are organizing a team of professionals--architect, engineer and others--to lay the foundation for this much needed affordable housing project.
